An incomplete list of bugs I encounter in my daily life
Click on "copy to clipboard" im harbor (goharbor.io), then alt-tab to zed and paste.. pastes the previous contents of the clipboard.
Openbao: trying to log in via OIDC, I always get an "invalid role" error message first, then it works on the second try. Other times the sign in Button does nothing.
Claude.ai: opening an old chat, instead of the original conversation, I get a bunch of repeated messages with my original prompt and the response "This response didn't load.".
I want to leave a comment on a news site that I read. Using the newspaper's app, I type in my comment and click on the green arrow indicating send. The button does nothing. I have to cut and paste my comment into my note-taking app and try again later.
Staying in a business hotel, visiting the Hotel gym. The treadmill needs around 30 seconds to boot its operating system. No, you can't use the treadmill while it loads its infotainment system.
Discord on Android: the sidebar fails to load and shows as solid black. The main content pane is pushed to the right, cutting off the chat messages.
Trying out the "online check-in" at a hotel chain. After completing the flow and the payment, I click on the link to download the "Check-in pass" to Google wallet but get a 404 page.
GitHub: the "create pull request" button on the compare branch view doesn't react. It works after a page refresh.
GitHub: the "pull request" tab shows a circled '1' to indicate that there's one pull request currently open in this repository. When I click on it, it turns out that there hasn't been an open pull request for hours.
GitHub: in the repository settings, after selecting "allow merge commits", then selecting "allow auto-merge", I get a warning banner saying "You must select at least one option", implying that I have none of the three options "allow merge commits", "allow squash merging", "allow rebase merging" selected. In fact, the latter two options are selected. And "Allow auto-merge" is an unrelated separate setting.
Firefox on Android: this happened only once. when switching between a different app and Firefox, I briefly saw a "ghost" image of the Firefox logo.
Claude.ai: the chat interface sometimes "forgets" to send me a response. Sometimes when the server doesn't answer, I get a proper error message. But other times, I send my request and it's as if it was lost in the void with no indication of the current status of my prompt. Resending sometimes helps.
Slack on iPhone, slack on macos: when setting my status on the macbook, then later open slack on the phone, the new status is not shown on the phone. Instead, I see the status that was last set on the phone's slack instance. The wrong status does not go away even when I navigate to the menu where you can change your status. At first I suspected that phone slack just couldn't connect to the server and its information is just outdated. But it shows me as online and I can see new posts from other people.
Confluence in chrome: The title of a live-doc can have a leading emoji. It is sometimes impossible for me to change this emoji. When I click on it, I get the Pop-up with the emoji selection but after selecting a different one, it just flickers for a moment. This one's temporary and only appears sometimes.
Chrome on macos, reader view: clicking on a link with my mouse wheel (middle mouse button) to open the link in a new tab somehow triggers Chrome's Pop-up detection. Chrome will refuse to open the link and shows "Pop-up blocked" in the address bar. A normal left click will correctly direct me to the linked page. Middle-clicking a link outside the reader correctly opens the link in a new tab. Right-click, then selecting "open in new tab" also works as expected.
Google meet on chrome on macos: when someone is sharing their screen, the little screen-in-screen showing my face to myself obscures the little buttons for maximizing the screen share and opening it in a new window. Since I can't move the screen with my face on it, I have to find the few pixels that are not covered and guess that they belong to the right button.
Figma Figjam in Firefox on macos: a connector configured without arrowheads sometimes shows an arrowhead. When I move the connector, the arrowhead disappears again. I think the wrong arrowhead appears when I add a second connector targeting the same object (maybe only when it's the same location on the object??).
GIMP on MacOS: when mouse-hovering over the bucket fill tool, the tool tip window pops up for the fraction of a second, then immediately disappears again. This does not give me enough time to read to which shortcut key this tool is bound. This is accompanied by what looks like the "clicking" animation on the bucket fill button. Other times, I only see the animation and no pop-up at all.
Linkedin website in Firefox on Android: when I click on notifications, I just get a blank and black page. No way to work around this, I just have to live without notifications.
I use Fedora with KDE Plasma. I open "Discover" to update my apps and system. After clicking on "Update All", I leave for lunch. When I come back from lunch, there's a mysterious error message "Name is not activatable". The pop-up actually shows two errors, both with the same error message. Don't know if that means the updates were installed or not.
